Youth, Generation and Socialism

Franz Walter, director of the Institute for Democracy Research in Göttingen, has published a new study on labour youth organizations in the Weimar Republic. He traces the rift between the generations in the German labour movement and the crisis of socialism at the end of the Weimar Republic, emphasizing 1926/7 as the historically significant turning point rather than 1929-32.

This book has been reviewed in Zeitschrift für Geschichtswissenschaft 10/2011, p. 880.
